When Martin Luther said himself
"Our prayer should include the Mother of God . . . What the Hail Mary says is that all glory should be given to God, using these words: "Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus Christ. Amen!" You see that these words are not concerned with prayer but purely with giving praise and honor . . . We can use the Hail Mary as a meditation in which we recite what grace God has given her. Second, we should add a wish that everyone may know and respect her " (Personal Prayer Book, 1522).
Also they say the rosary is all about Mary when really it is 90% about Jesus and 10% asking for Marys prayers... see the break down quite interesting http://www.davidmacd.com/catholic/mary_c...
The Hail Mary is asking Mary to pray for us and praising Jesus all in one. so why do protestants believe it is a prayer worshiping Mary?
All religions attack the Catholic Church for one reason or another. If praying to Mary is wrong but, War,Hate,Murder, etc is not then who is really wrong here. The word Protestants means to protest. Many protest God not only Protestants but, everyone else.Christians must come together and figure out the truth together. For a kingdom can not stand if it fights against itself! Who actually wins when Christians fight each other? everyone else or the d(evil) himself.God bless all
As a former Protestant who is now Catholic, I was raised that the Hail Mary is blasphemy because it makes Mary another God (which violates the commandment that "You shall have no other gods before Me"). The concern I believe comes in the area of to whom are you praying? If you believe that it is praying to Mary and asking her things that you should only ask God, the protestants are right. If you believe that in saying the Hail Mary you are asking Mary to pray for you, and to seek God on your behalf, you are not praying to her and it is more Christian fellowship with Mary. Clearly I believe the latter!
I dont believe we should pray to Mary or decorate statues of her with beads and pray to her. The Bible clearly refers to this type of behavior as Idolatry and that's a sin fer sure.
They are against everything Catholic.
pray to Mary means placed mary as GOD
the meaning of rosary is not pray to Mary,,but Pray with Mary
we only pray to Jesus
Martin Luther was a Catholic, Its wrong to pray to mary
(1 Timothy 2:5) . . .For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus. . .
it's so blasphemous for me as a catholic a protestant believes that a pastor has supernatural powers.. when they say.. the pastor pat robertson prayed for me and I was cured.. when he made a prayer of faith.. what a lie.. they say catholic should not pray to Mary.. but they ask to pray to their pastors.. and even their pastors have the power to make miracles..
Because a rosary or a hail mary, did not die on the cross for our sins, can't save your soul, can't heal you and can't forgive your sins. { ONLY JESUS DID AND CAN } Hello Kitty Cross - Hello Kitty Hell:: Aug 15, 2008 If the Disney cult can do it with all their whacked out Really, wake me when we have images of the Virgin Mary with . I don't think this item is blasphemous, but more disrespectful. Even Protestants looked the other way when the fake trials . The rosary makes me feel a bit ill. :-/ http://www.kittyhell.com/2008/08/15/hello-kitty-cross/HOME |
too long, cut down on additional details next time, kay?
It's not biblical. I can say the Lord's prayer though because it is biblical and it is addressed to "Our Father...". That is the only person that the bible teaches us to pray to. I didn't figure that I needed to ask anyone else but Him.
I'm not a Lutheran, so I don't care what Luther says about this. Luther was right about salvation by faith alone. He was wrong about many other things.
Mary is in heaven and can't hear you. Nor did anyone at any time ever pray to any but God. When Saul in the OT tried to pray to dead Samuel, God told Saul not to do it.
Mary can't hear you.
Martin Luther, was at first a staunch reviver of scriptural based religion. But in his later years, was corrupted into such opinions as to be severely anti semitic.
He condoned in lated years the burning of synagogues and the poisoning of jewish wells.
Does the Catholic Church also condine these thoughts? If not, then any Catholic appeal to the man Martin Luther, is also now recognized as an appeal to kill the jews.
Do Catholics really want to kill the Jews?
I'm a faithful Catholic and pray the Rosary all the time. I don't use the Rosary as anything symbolic of idolatry. I love saying the Rosary, and enjoy the comfort and peace it brings to me. It doesn't matter how many times I recite the Rosary, or whether or not I finish it. What matters most is my faith and how it brings positive spirituality in my life. I would be a hypocrite if I judged anyone else for not praying the Rosary. Everyone has their own religion, and what matters most is their faith in it and how they choose to use it. I will never judge anyone else's religion based on mine.
Jesus just wants us to love one another. Let's just stop fighting.
Praying to Mary symbolically makes her equal to God, so that is why.
where in the holy scripture does it say that Mary is someone we should pray to? Where in the Bible does it say that Mary has power to heal people? Where in the Bible does it say that Mary is of any importance apart from giving birth to Jesus?
Mary was a good woman that God chose to use. That's it!
Too much confusion and cult practises in the scattered thousands of denominations.
They are vain repetitious prayers. Matthew 6:7.
I was a bible thumping Protestant Christian for my first 33 years of life. I used to think the Hail Mary was a silly thing for Catholics to do. Non-Catholics think it is blasphemous mostly because they are just uninformed and innocently ignorant. When I prayed to God (directly) and asked, "Show me your truth, Lord, and please just make sure it's not Catholic," God led me straight to the Catholic faith. I was the most reluctant Catholic you have ever met and I viewed everything with a skeptical eye. Learning to appreciate Mary was the last piece for me in embracing my new faith. The richness she adds to my prayer life is amazing but she does not replace Christ in prayer in any way. Mary prays along with me to her son.
some people also get picky about the mother of God part. Even though Jesus is God. He is God the son not God the father, we can't put Mary above God the father by saying she is his mother and was around at the time of creation. She was not around, but Jesus the son was. Rember Jesus prayed to God the father with no intermediaries.
they refuse to understand it or comprehend the meanings of the words.
actually, I think it's because they hear the word "Mary". they're allergic to it, remember?
No not a prayer worshiping Mary but a prayer to Mary. The first commandment states tho shalt not honor any other God before me. Praying is a sign of worship, when you worship some one it is like treating like a God, therefor in the protestant religion you are worshiping her just by praying to her, its not so much the words of the prayer.
There's nothing in the Bible which tells us to pray to Mary, only to the Lord.
Jesus told us to pray to His Father, Who is God, not to his mother, who is another sinful human being who needed a savior.
See Matthew chapter six.
Martin Luther was raised a Roman Catholic and only reformed a small portion of the errors done by the Roman church.
Throw your prayer books away and read the Bible, only the Bible and ask God to show you His Truth.
