It's obvious, they don't really understand any of this. Sure, they THINK the DO ... but they don't. They defend everything Jesus says but neglect to abide by God the Father's words in the Old Testament. WHY?!
They don't even understand their own Bible, they've never examined the foundations of it or where it came from. Thinking Christian: Bible display unconstitutional:: God fearing and God worshipping has not, sadly, made us any better a society. clearly here why the Bible and other religious artifacts are not displayed in http://blogs.chron.com/thinkingchristian/2006/08/bible_display_unconstitutional.htmlHOME |
Most of them are just believing what Mummy and Daddy told them to believe because it's the easy answer.
How did the question become about Christians not following the OT, when at first it was about Christians supposedly not understanding other religions?
I haven't always been a Christian. I understand skeptics just fine. I also understand pagans, because I was one for six years.
I do not follow the OT, because Jesus explains why it's not as important to follow the Law, as it is to love God.
Read Mark 12:28-34 here:

Luke 11:37-54 here:

Also, read John 5:36-47:

The problem with the Law is that people were getting so wrapped up in following it that they forgot WHY they were following it. They no longer loved God. They were constantly comparing themselves to everyone else, so that they could be considered righteous. And Jesus said this was wrong, wrong, WRONG. We should be humble, and live only to please God. Jesus tried to guide people back to that. Few chose to listen. I do not neglect the Old Testament- how can I? The OT testament points to the Cross- the whole OT shows the history of the world up until the coming of Christ- Did you notice the word HISTORY- it is His Story.
That really isn't saying much. They don't understand Christianity all that well to begin with, but then they just bury their heads in the sand from there.
I can tell from your question that you don't understand Christianity. I recommend you study St. Thomas Aquinas. That may help you along your way.
