Basically the answer is that the deniers cherrypick some hot year like 1998, then pick a cooler year like 2006 or 2008, then draw a line between those 2 points and say 'hey it's cooling!'.
Yep you've got it down. So-called "skeptics" rely on false claims with either no supporting data, cherrypicked data, or data which actually disproves their claims. Most often they simply make false and unsubstantiated claims. Report Abuse
A lot comes from websites set up with the sole aim to discredit the science of climate change, sites like wattsupwiththat.
They show interesting looking graphs they claim are of things like Hadcrut data (temperature data) watts site has a habit of redrawing graphs.

Skeptics claim things like no warming since 98' based, I assume on information from sites like 'watts' but information from sites with stronger links to science like this.

The operative word is 'some' sceptics.
It would be more accurate to say that there has not been any statistically significant warming since 1998 and 2008 has seen unprecendented cooling.
