Catholics do not pray to Mary for healing powers. Prayers directed to Mary are directed to Jesus but, she polishes them up for us.
Only Catholics (as far as I know) pray to Mary. Most other Christian denominations (for sure Baptist) have respect for her as a "Bible hero" and believe in the Virgin Birth, but do not believe that she is a supernatural being with power to heal or perform miracles. You have been misinformed.
Are you praying to a friend when you ask them to pray for you, or are you just asking them to pray for you? Have you ever prayed to God to help someone else?
While most non-Catholics say "Mary is DEAD, she can't hear you!" ... Catholics ask Mary to pray for them, because they believe her spirit is alive and well in Heaven.
Catholics pray to God also, but they believe praying for others and having them pray for you has power as well.
As far as seeing mircales, I believe sometimes they do.
Christians don't pray to Mary. Only Catholics do that. I think it is a 'cult' thing.
