    What is it?
    Thanks

  • It sounds like she has some type of infection. Are you sure the smell is coming from the Vulva area? Could it be that her anal glands need to be expressed? Either way, a trip to the Vet is in order.
  • What is Dander::
    to popular belief, the hair of dogs and cats generally does not cause allergies. It is the dander of the pet causing reactions.

  • Female dogs in heat are VERY smelly. Their urine will attract males for up to six months. The vet has pills to cover the odor or diminish it, but there is always odor. I agree that you should spay your dog. Unspayed bitches are way more likely to get cancer and have other health problems.

  • If she is on any medicines for anything sometimes it can have a foul odor also different types of foods could also be the culprit .Good luck if the problem is still there in a few days then go to your vet.

  • Try and get her to a vet, and I advise to spay her, there are many positive benefits to doing so. As for the smell, it sounds like she may have an infection down there, so vet treatment sounds like the best option. Just a question.... what are you washing her with every night? and is she licking the area a lot?

  • First off it called a heat cycle not a period..........secondly you need to get her fixed it will help her avoid cancer and live a longer healthier life......thirdly it sounds like an infection you need to go to the vet asap.

  • I think that she has problems expressing the contents of her anal glands, washing her won't help she will continue to be smelly. Ask your vet to expel the contents of her anal glands and change her diet. If your dog is eating a food which contains grain this could be the route of her problems.

    The experts now agree that grain in our dogs diets create problems. Change to a grain free food and stop giving her biscuits.

    The fact that she has not been spayed is not the cause of the smell, however if you have her spayed she will live a longer and happier life.
