  • A woman is constantly late for her daily team meetings. Her boss then stands in front of her desk tapping his watch every day, not saying anything, then he walks away and carries on with the meeting. Over time, she sees her boss's disapproval of her being late and she starts going to the meetings on time.

  • A child never finishes eating his vegetables - in fact he doesn't eat any. • Operant conditioning mainly regulates voluntary, spontaneous responses. A scenario in which someone could apply it to shape behavior would be like what B.F. Skinner's students did to him in order to get him to lecture from a chair at the side of the room instead of in front of the room. They only payed attention, answered his question, etc. when he was at the side of the room. When he went to the middle people would look down and not pay attention to him. He was operant conditioned to lecture class from the side of the room on a stool instead of in front behind a podium. This is an example to help get you thinking so you can come up with your own example.
