Dear Members,
we would like to inform you about a few changes that are going to be implemented at Japan Reference (JREF) in the near future.
Due to the fact that our current server seems to be at the brink of collpase during peak times, we have decided to acquire another, more powerful server. This second server will not only host Eupedia.com (http://www.eupedia.com), our Europe-related website, but also a few smaller websites, in addition to the resource-intensive Japan Banner Exchange (http://ad.jref.com). In the course of this relocation we will set up a new Eupedia forum focusing on Europe. As a matter of consequence, all threads at the Japan Forum related to Europe will be moved to the new Eupedia forum. Technically, the two fora will be completely independent from each other. They will offer the following content:
Japan Forum: JAPAN minus EUROPE plus GENERAL DISCUSSION (plus subfora on CHINA)
Eupedia Forum: EUROPE plus GENERAL DISCUSSION
We will need to import all current users into the new Eupedia database, however, we will comply with any requests to be removed from the new forum. Current members will be able to post at both fora. We are aware of the fact that some general fora will coexist "in parallel dimensions", but discussions will soon take their own course. We are not yet certain about the nitty-gritty of the split (the role of team members, etc.), but are open to your suggestions. We will also establish JREF and Eupedia mirror sites for announcements in case one of the pages is inaccessible.
All these steps are labourious and - given Maciamo's and my busy workload - will take at least a few weeks or months to be fully implemented. Therefore we kindly ask for your patience.
I hope that this roadplan satisfies those who have frequently expressed their scepticism over the forum's hybrid nature. We are looking forward to your constructive feedback.
UPDATE: please use this thread to post your opinion on the issue outlined above. We sincerely appreciate your donations, however, kindly discuss the terminological intricacies of "donor/donator/contributor" here (http://www.jref.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22738).
Thanks for the update. Please do excuse my ignorance, but how would that affect Chat? And, would that mean, for example, that a person who had found the Eupedia forum on the net, and registered for that, would be unknown to those who only post on Jref?
The chat will not be affected at all. The two fora will be independent from each other, so the user database will not be shared after the split. Existing members can decide whether they would like to stay registered on both boards or be removed from one of them.

I see. Thanks Thomas. And I would imagine that there would of course be a super link on each form page, to cross over easily? Thank you for answering.
I don't see anything wrong with it.
So the Europe fora will disappear from the Jref fora?
Sounds like a good idea! I think it is great that Eupedia and Jref are working together, but having eupedia fora in the Jref fora I disagree with that. So think this is a good thing.
Again thanks Thomas and Maciamo for the work you guys are making for us! really appreciated, guess we should make a present for you guys... how?

I am unable to promise a "super link", but we will certainly interlink both fora. :-)
I think its a good idea. I will give the Europe a chance to expand and grow. not being held back under the Japan Forums.
Yeah, I think the Europe forum looks promising too. I will try to be more active...I have noticed there are many Belgian topics :-) :-) :-) Maybe I will start a thread on a topic related to Denmark, or Scandinavia, if anything interesting worth mentioning comes up... :note:
The only big thing I can think about is the Muhammad drawings controversy in Denmark: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyllands-Posten_Muhammad_cartoon
Ok !! Thanks !!
