As you may have noticed, the JPop Forum is now called Japanese Music.
To create and maintain readability, it's now devided into 3 sub-sections:

    1. Male artist
    2. Female artist
    3. Band and Groups
    4. Chit Chat

The first three sections speak for themselves. The general rule for these is that eacht artist or band gets one single thread. Doubles are not allowed and will be merged into the main thread for that artist.

The Chit Chat section is for anything else, which is not directly related to a single artist or band.

Rearranging of this forum still takes place as I type this. The parent-forum has been locked for new posts, however all threads that have been active in 2006 have been moved and are open in the new sub-sections. Any recent discussions can continue as usual. Older threads will be moved in the coming days.

As there are a lot of double-posts, merging of these threads will also take place in the near future.

  • Y'all are the hardest workers at JREF by far! :D:D

I'm sure this was a pretty major undertaking, so hats off to you guys for the job you've done so far, and the job you'll continue to do!

  • Twisted, I'm sure you're making at least a handful of people very happy with this. Two thumbs up from me, too!

  • Here's another gackt thread... http://www.jref.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22670

....should probably be stuck into chit chat, as it's basically a 'is gackt more cute or less cute than...' blah de blah...

  • I merged Gackt an hour ago, 11 pages... but than you still got the gackt ugly, gackt pretty thread..... thatLs chit ne?

Yeah, i moved those to the Chit Chat forum.

When we're finished i want only one thread for each artist, which is also named after the artist.

Still a lot to sort out then. I'm currently going through the Female artists as that's a small and easy section.

  • Everyone else need only add to their ignore forum list before they're quickly overwhelmed with the stuff ! :p
I added them to my ignore forum list quite a while ago. The new lockdown seems like it might have the unfortunate effect of making the J-Rock/J-Pop fans start posting their drivel in the other fora; I already found one.

    [correction]

I only thought I found one. All the J-Music drivel suddenly started showing up because my filters needed to be adjusted for the new changes, and when I saw "Chit Chat" on some of them I didn't initially realize that was a part of the J-Music section.

  • Thanks, we'll look into that one. It's probably going to take the whole week (or even longer) to sort everything out.Yep. I just thought this thread would be the place to point out any strays. Thanks for all the hard work you guys are doing!

  • Well it has taken 24 hours and there are only about 6 pages to finally move. Not bad considering there were 57 pages to begin with. Well done to all who helped.

  • Everyone else need only add to their ignore forum list before they're quickly overwhelmed with the stuff ! :p

  • It sure is a lot of work, but for a good cause!!!

btw, more than a handfull Glenn because there are 46 people who voted for a split, 5 other, and 12 to leave it the way it is. :p

  • It certainally did become a mess! :D I now like the new format, should maintain alot of orgainisation. :) It be cool to also put threads in alphabetical order in the future, if there are like loads and loads of artist's in the male, female, and band section.

  • I merged Gackt an hour ago, 11 pages... but than you still got the gackt ugly, gackt pretty thread..... that´s chit ne?

  • Thanks guys, again for all the hard work. It is really appreciated.

  • Thanks, we'll look into that one. It's probably going to take the whole week (or even longer) to sort everything out.

  • Ah, I think we were all under the impression you were gone for good...

Anyway, good to have you back, hope you like the way I rearranged the place.

Things haven't changed that much though. The Chit Chat section is still the place to be when it comes to general JPop/JRock discussion. I just lifted the individual artist threads to a more organized structure. Should be easier to navigate for everything.

  • OMG wow it's been changed! :souka: :silly:
I'll help move stuff around! Dammit I'm late into this! >< and you guys had to do a lot of work! :( I'm sorryyyyyyyyy! :(
    *runs off to look*

EDIT: Ohh... I can't move threads anymore... O_o :( I missed j-ref a lot lately, and now I'm back but... things change and leave me behind... *sigh* :( I'm no good. :(

Yeah, the Chit Chat got past my armour the first time as well. I can't complain too heartily though....the problem was caught early and only ended up having to deal with four side effects. :relief:

  • It be cool to also put threads in alphabetical order in the future, if there are like loads and loads of artist's in the male, female, and band section.

That would not be possible, as far as I know! because the latest posted thread are on top.

  • yeah, quite a trip down memory lane for me.

Now all that's left to do is merge double threads in the artists sections, so there's only one Dir en Grey thread, one L'Arc~en~Ciel thread, one Gackt thread, etc, etc...

  • Wow!! you have made a great job!! and you have worked soo hard to clean the mess that the Jpop section had become Thanks so much I think all the Jmusic fans in general should thank you!!! you are the best!!! :cracker:

  • It certainally did become a mess! :D I now like the new format, should maintain alot of orgainisation. :) It be cool to also put threads in alphabetical order in the future, if there are like loads and loads of artist's in the male, female, and band section.

Actually, this is possible. In thread-view you can sort by thread-order (alphabetical), thread-starter, rating, last post, replies and views.
Last Post is the default setting, but i'm not sure if you can save a preference. I'd have to look into that.

  • Thank you Twisted, it looks like a great job!

I dunno about the chit-chat part being the place to be, though... I think it'll be the place I'm avoiding! :souka:  But from what I can gather so far, it does look easier to navigate! Nice one! :p

Yeah it feels like I have been away for ages :( can't check in so often now, but I hope to stick around even if somewhat subdued... :auch: :hey:

  • My only concern is that as Mike said, the members of the Jrock Community don't seem all that especially skilled at keeping their messages in the approrpriate forums to begin with.

  • Yes, very good job.

I'm so glad that something is finally being done about all of that...hmmmm...stuff.

Are you planning on editing some of those huge photos out of threads and huge signatures too? They've shown total disregard for that sticky thread about signatures that Iron Chef put up. :okashii:

Anyway, those things are secondary. Keep up the good work.

  • Are you planning on editing some of those huge photos out of threads and huge signatures too? They've shown total disregard for that sticky thread about signatures that Iron Chef put up. :okashii:

Let me take care of that :-)

Indeed going pretty fast, however I am going a bit crazy of all this similar threads... :( :p

funny to see some of the threads though !!!

  • Yup, that's also my concern. It's going to require strict moderation.

  • I like what you guys did to the Japanese Music section. It's alot easier to navagate and easier to find the topics your looking for instead of searching for hours to find it :-)
