Hey, my mom just got laid off of her job a few hours ago. She's so depressed and she just got back from a business trip from Germany. Shes been loyal to her company for more than 10 years. Many people have their self image and self worth wrapped up in their jobs. If their job goes away due to layoffs they can be devistated. Now the good news is that in your case your family sounds like this will not present a financial problem and that is good. After the shock wears off you could think about asking your mom if she would do a few things with you that her old job would have not allowed. Depending on your age and interests this would be a great time to look into doing some volunteer work together. It might be at a hospital, nursing home, school or church.
