a bunch of people come storming into the store that I work at? I have been at my job for 2 months and still don't get how to do some very important things. It takes time for someone like me to learn all of these very frustrating things whenever he or she has never really worked. I want to be a writer who lives in the kountry with her cats and writes books but I know that will take a lot of time and money to get that dream.

  • Your panic attacks will get easier. Just tell the people you work with that sometimes you have panic attacks. They will understand & try to help you when it happens.

For me I just had to go into the back room (or bathroom) and take a few deep breaths, picture myself on a beach or mountaintop, and take a "Mental Valium". I don't have panic attacks like I used to, and now when I do I can work through them & let it out later.

To learn the important things you need to know to do your job, keep a notebook & pen with you & every time they tell/show you something important write it down step by step.

When you get home, try re-writing the instructions once or twice. Make tests for yourself, and if possible work in training mode at work (some cash registers, etc. have a training mode).

Keep a notebook or small recording device with you if you think up things to write but are at work or somewhere where you can't just sit down & start writing a book. That way you can go back to the thoughts later when you do have time & you won't forget them.

    Good luck!

  • There are many ways to find the answers of your thoughts.
As for understanding ourselves, that is relative. Each person knows themselves only so much. I don't believe many truly know themselves completely. Because we are a continually growing being, we constantly change. It would be impossible to really know ourselves until we stop changing. My 80 year old mother just learned something about herself recently so like education, this is a lifelong thing! Don't sweat it. Sometimes we take it on so seriously, when we really can't change the current moment. What we can change is our attitudes toward the moment.
As for the panic attacks, my husband gets them in rooms of 5 or more people. He just doesn't like being in crowds of any size. My first thought is that the moment you get a few customers you panic, already worrying about what can go wrong. An idea is that when you see a group coming, think what an opportunity! Look at how many people need my help. Then, take it on one at a time. Smile, acknowledge people as they come in (or up to you) and take it one at a time. Most people are able to wait a little if you just acknowledge them, smile or nod at them-let them know it may be just a minute.
This sounds like your first job, so don't worry. It takes time to build the skills you need. And your going to have bad days. There is always a jerk who wants to vent their own frustrations on you. Keep calm, listen intently, and try to fix things diplomatically.
I too like to write, think of your work as potential observations on character development! You will gather some good stories to write about as time goes on. I have learned so much from all my past jobs (even the crummy ones). Bottom line.... hang in there, you are not alone.
