My elderly neighbor died and was left laying in his hallway for five days before someone saw the pile of newspapers and investigated.
At that time...they were totally renovating our apartments, ripping up old floors, putting in new bathtubs and toilets, a new kitchen sink, etc... and his was already finished...they were to start on mine next...so...I was to move into his apartment and change addresses.
It didn't bother me any...the fact he had died in the same apartment I was moving into... but...I was bringing back into 'his' house a few of the things I had bought from him earlier... and so...I moved 'back in' his table and chairs...

One of my favorite parts about Ghost Hunters is the interaction amongst Jay and Grant are funny guys, and Steve, the tech guy is a smart aleck if I've ever seen one. If you have trick-or-treating duties, you'll have to Tivo it.

refrigerator... a sofa...
About the fifth night I was there...around 3am...I woke up with a feeling that someone was in my bedroom or that someone was closeby watching me...I looked around the room and at the end of the bed...hovering about four feet off the ground was a 'hazy white cloud'...no form or shape... it had no defined edges....(like clouds in the sky sometimes seem to)...it was more like a 'misty cloud'....I could even see it's 'whiteness' in the darkened room.
I immediately knew WHO it was...and thought... "it's 'him'...he hasn't gone 'home' yet"...and then...I BROUGHT MY HAND TO MY FACE AND SLAPPED MYSELF GOOD AND HARD...but...THE CLOUD WAS STILL THERE...and...I KNEW I WASN'T DREAMING THIS...I WAS WIDE AWAKE...soooo...
I told him...very calmly...I felt calm and wondered why I wasn't nervous or scared to be confronting this 'abstract idea or entity'....but...I calmly told him..."Everything is just fine...I've got your belongings and will take good care of them...I live in your house now...and I will take good care of it...you don't have any reason to hang around...Soooo...I think you should go 'home' now...you don't need to stay here...everything is ok...you can go...there is nothing for you to finish here...soooo...good bye, now."....AND THEN I SAID..."I'm going to go back to sleep now...I'm going to put the covers over my head and go back to sleep...you go home...you don't need to be here when I awake...bye bye"....
Then..I did just that...I put the covers over my head and fell gently and peacefully back to sleep...Which made me wonder the next day...How could I go to sleep so contently when I had just saw and spoke to the ghost of my recently deceased neighbor (he'd been dead about 6 weeks by then)
...But...then I realized...I have never... NOT ...believed in ghosts, aliens, or God....so...it really didn't surprise me when I encountered it... especially since he'd been laying dead in this house for a whole week without anyone taking care of his remains...it made sense that he would hang around to see what happened to...him...his possessions..and his house...and...I knew exactly WHO the ghost was...and so I didn't any notion to be frightened that he was a poltergeist there to 'harm' me...
But...I was puzzled that I handled it so...rationally and without a hint of anxiety....
Soooo... never heard from him again...and was glad to be able to assure and assist him in his journey back 'home'...
can't wait to go myself...wouldn't want to stick around here... even if I DID have unfinished business...lol
Yes, I once saw a ghost of a little boy that looked exactly like my next door neighbour's little boy who was 7 years old. I was sitting on the couch watching tv. As soon as i went to move, it dissappeared. The very next day, the little boy next door drowned in their swimming pool. True story but I know it's hard to believe.

Not me, but my sister has! When my grandmother died, my sister was extremely upset, she was young and wanted her grandmother to come back so she could say good-bye properly. But her wish came true during the night. My sister woke up for no particular reason and staring her right in the face was her grandmother. She was younger but my sister recognised her instantly. My sister screamed and my grandmother vanished. Heaps of other stuff has happened in our family like this. Even way creepier stuff...
I have never actually seen a ghost but I used to live in a very old house in the country in Colorado and various things around the house would be moved to a different place from where I left them. For example, one day I was drinking a can of pepsi in the kitchen and I put it down on the counter and walked out of the room and I came back a minute later and it was on the opposite end of the counter; about 8 feet from where I had placed it. And my dog would sit in the doorway to the kitchen and bark into the seemingly empty and quiet room. Sounds crazy huh. Runs in the family I guess because my mom would wake up in the middle of the night and hear the tv show the Price is Right on the tv and smell coffee and toast. She would walk out into the livingroom/kitchen area and find everything quiet and dark and the smell would be gone. That happened a few times to her.
