While I appreciate the point you're making, that demonstration doesn't really tell you anything about warming caused by an enhanced greenhouse effect.
It does demonstrate the problem of global warming by waste heat, which is on a somewhat longer time scale than greenhouse gas forcing.
EDIT: Michael, have you ever had a smog check done on your car (presuming you're old enough to drive)? Cars release very little carbon monoxide any more, often times I'll get a "zero" reading when they give me the printout--but they're still producing CO2. Carbon dioxide and water are the primary products of combustion in cars and most other environments where there's an abundance of oxygen.

Mikira, I agree that cars aren't the big problem as far as waste heat, it's our electric power generation, but everything contributes.
I'm afraid I've never tried that. I always wear a pair of gloves or use a towel when I know I have to touch something scalding hot.

Your question makes no sense.
It is more than the waste product of CO2 that causes the exhaust manifold to heat up. In fact everything heats up when running. But I can answer this, because I was burned by the exhaust manifold of a motor cycle and it only took about 3 seconds. I also got a third degree burn while putting more wood in a wood burning stove that also only took about 3 seconds.
CO2 is a waste product of heating certain fuels and a waste product of respiration. It doesn't burn. In fact CO2 is used in fire extinguishers to put out fires.
Pegminer - As for waste heat from a vehicle. I would say it's extremely minimal, since they cool down in less than an hour after you turn them off and it's only the engine that's warm, especially in the winter when their outside.

I would hope that electric cars heat up or they sure wouldn't go over very big up here in the North, since it's the heat from the engine that's used to warm the interior of the vehicle.
The heat from combustion of gasoline is insignificant compared to the heat from radiant energy of the sun which is about 1.7 * 10^17 Watts.
The energy from a car is about 10000 watts near as I can figure. Assume an average of about 20 million cars (just a guess) on the road at any time in the world and that equals 2*10^11 That means that cars are about 1 millionth the heat from the sun. I thought it would be much lower but I suppose if everyone had a million cars each that would be quite a problem and would warm the Earth.
The CO2 should be warming the Earth about .5 degrees from the models. That is just noise in the models but the warming is only on the surface. The upper air about 10,000 feet should be warming if the the theory is correct. Apparently the greenhouse effect isn't significant in the current warming. Humans aren't to blame so you can feel relieved and not feel guilty about it.

The theory doing the rounds is that climate change is caused by CO2, but every now and then we get a question from someone who doesn't understand the theories as well as they think they do saying global warming is caused by heat from burning fossil fuels.
The problem with your theory (and it is YOUR theory, you won't find it in a scientific journal) is that when a body becomes hot it radiates heat in all directions and in a short space of time, the heat leaves the Earth and is radiated into space.
