  • How do I exclude some products from showing up in New Products ::

    Dear Members,

some of you will be very pleased to learn about this modification: you will now able to exclude certain fora and subfora when searching for new posts (by clicking the link in the top menu).

Access your User CP ("My Settings"), click on "Edit Options", scroll down to "Exclude Forums from Get New Posts" and mark the fora you would like to exclude from new posts.

That will make certain members who do not like to be flooded by certain posts from certain fora certainly HAPPY!
    :-)

  • The "Exclude Fora" option should be fully functional now. Sorry for the delay in re-implementing the hack and thanks for your patience.

  • Admin2 I don't believe is involved in this site anymore at all. Admin1 I know is kind of irregular at best (on for upgrades and forum maintainence and such) -- is that why Dutch is still acting administrator ? :?

I'm not sure it can be fixed by anyone that didn't do the upgrade, but even that would be more or less a reality check reply. :p
Well, I do know with certainty that the only two members with "permission" to directly tinker with the software are Admin 1 and Admin 2.

You'd have to talk to the admin directly about Dutchie's ongoing stint as administrator. As far as I know that's between Dutch and the Admin.

Admin 2 does stop by from time to time, but I don't know how active he has been.

I hope one of them comments here....I feel uncomfortable commenting on other members like this too much...

  • Well, as an admin, I shouldn't removed anything though (except maybe the "Entertainment" section :relief: )

You mean the Entertainment section? or the J-pop section?

  • OK, I'll respond in the only way I know how....
The only people here who can answer your question (I think) are Admin 1 and Admin 2. I would love to answer your question, but I honestly have no idea.
How about PMing Admin 1 on the matter? I wish I could help more...

We shouldn't have to PM either of the Admins. They read the forums right? There was at least 3 posts about this issue made in the forum upgrade thread. If they don't know how to fix it, they should at least respond as such.

  • Admin1 doesn't read all the posts, admin2 neither... So the best way to contact an admin is true a moderator... I know it's not the best way but i guess it's just the way it is for now.

I had a look into it on the admin panel but couldn't find anything about it, and I searched the Vbulletin for it where I did find something but that looks like something I don't have the power for.

  • 1st, thanks a lot Thomas, now I don't have to see a million JPop posts everyday!...but one question Thomas...did you do this hack yourself?

  • Hey guys, do not discriminate against the Jpop crowd. :p

Not discriminating at all! I hate all of them equally! (just kidding!)

  • Thanks for your assitance in trying to answer here. You're welcome!
Isn't there a better way of handling an issue like this without the membership needing to PM the Admin when a mod or Admin, Dutch, show up here everyday and could either deal with or let people know what's up?

Well, with this particular problem, only Admin 1 or 2 can fix it; I'm quite certain of that.

As far as letting people know what'S up...

There is much that I want to say, but unfortunately my hands are tied being a "public" figure at Jref.

All I can say is that we have to live with the situation we have. If you don't like the current situation, please feel free to start a thread complaining specifically about the lack of responsiveness from the staff. If fact, I encourage you to do so! (But please be polite!)

That's all I care to block

Why dont you check out the thread linked above or go to
Post 21 (http://www.jref.com/forum/showpost.php?p=472950&postcount=21) and read through to the end of the thread. Been waiting about 10 days for a reply of some sort but nothing has come. :?
Is Thomas still the only owner/admin of this site ? I'm really confused about
who does what around here and in what capacity, but yeah some form of acknowledgement would be nice...

P.S. Thanks, though, for an upgrade/hack correcting the post formating
problem !!! That is a HUGELY positive development, both a time and eye saver.

  • Wish I had the skills and the time to program. No, this is just a hack I found on another page. :-)

No worries...I was only curious. A friend of mine here created his own forum from scratch that works quite well. It's not as visually pleasing as vbulletin, but considering it is his own creation it is quite nice. I know that he spent many hours programming in order to allow for the types of hacks you install here. It's quite a feat what you guys are able to pull off, and I don't think that enough people really value what it is that you do! Thanks again!

  • I'm the king of this castle 1 when my wife's not around.

hee, hee, hee.....just couldn't resist, sorry.

While only substantiating the mode and content of what Mikawa san has said, I would tend to think the matter, or presentation of it has been noticed. . . and at least is in the pipeline. :relief::wave: (but will admit that I don't fully understand the problem...I'm a caveman when it comes to this computer stuff):souka::p:-)

Apparently the problem lies in "Exclude Forums from Get New Posts" being removed from the "Edit Options" folder. Any way it could be restored, asap ??? Pleeeease....:(

That is a great option. You are amazing! :bravo:

  • Ideally you are correct of course. However for whatever reasons, that just doesn't seem to be the reality for this issue. The only solution that I can think of is using the PM system.
