I would like to inform you that in the course of this week we are going to migrate all fora and subfora related to Europe to the Eupedia forum on our new server. This move requires us to temporarily lock all fora concerned in order to back up the database and to prevent new posts and topics.
Once the database has been imported to the new server all JREF members will be able to participate in Euro-related discussions on eupedia.com using the same credentials as on JREF.
Thanks for your patience.
You see Kinsao, the PM issue, or the "New Posts" problem that bossel pointed out, are some of the reasons why I was not very warm to separate the 2 forums at first. Especially that people had the option to eliminate forums they are not interested in from the "New Posts" in the options. But Elizabeth and many other people have insisted a lot that JREF's forum should be about Japan only. Now the split is irreversible. Lägg in en attraktiv bild utav varje ras. Could be that the new avatars are too big. I will change the permissions. Try again to see if it works now.
I have tried just then it is written invalid file.:(
But this time I notice I need to re-log into the Japan forum to post in here.
Thanks for the notice Thomas ! I'll keep a watch on it, and hope for the best--all the while sending my best wishes.
I still have some concerns, such as if there will then be two 'Introduction' foras and some little things like that, but will just wait to see what transpires.
Thanks for all the hard and surely involved work !! A܂!!
From now one, all the General Discussion (http://www.eupedia.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=171) (Opinions, Serious Discussion, Religion & Philosophy, Linguistics...) will take place on Eupedia, so that JREF can concentrate as much on Japan as possible (which is why we split the forum in two). Thank you for your comprehension and cooperation.
I did so yesterday already. I also added other Franco-Belgian comics.
Thanks, !
I tried posting on some threads in the general topics section, i now cannot because i am not a member of the europe forum, when will i be able to post on it or will i have to sign up to another forum?
You should be a member of the Eupedia forum too. Didn't you forget to login ? Otherwise just sign up again.
If that is true bossel san, than it is obvious that the free exchange of ideas from people with different perspectives is not the chief goal.
Suske en Wiske? JEROMEKE???
Maybe later. If you have good pics, you can send them to me and I will upload them,:-)

I can log in now.
What about banned members though? I noticed for example SVF got banned a little while ago, but he can still access this forum via the general topics section- sorta defeats the point of banning in the first place considering thats where he spent half his time anyways etc. The Low Countries; I'm confused - History - U.S. and World - Page :: Aug 9, 2008 http://www.eupedia.com/belgium/liege-province.shtm (broken link) . But the moderation team is a bit different on the two forums, and I found that he did not deserve being banned more than a few other members who argued with him (and which I won't name  ).
In general I find it quite easy to click on 'general discussion' if I'm interested, and that takes me over to the Eupedia forum... ^^ but one thing that's a little irritating is, if someone sends me a pm from the Eupedia forum, it doesn't arrive at me in the j-ref forum... I can't read it or know it's there until I log back into Eupedia the next time, which is less often. I know they are effectively separate forums now, but much the same people as are on j-ref visit Eupedia and send pm... and it's just a little... odd for me, as sometimes a pm convo isn't specifically anything to do with a topic from Eupedia. @.@ I realise you probably can't do anything about it, but just thought I'd flag it up... =P
Here you go, I have finished the set up of the new forum on eupedia.com :)
I can log in now.

Edit, he is unbanned in Eupedia!
Question for Maciamo: Will "baptists" be allowed on the other forum? Or is it a place reserved for those with a singular point of view and a harsher tone, manner and style?
Better stay out of there. Your posts may get deleted for being too provocative for a certain un-banned member. Just happened to Tokis-Phoenix.
So when would you put up Asterix and Tin Tin characters in the EU Avatar list?
I did so yesterday already. I also added other Franco-Belgian comics.
This may not be the appropriate place but the immigration/passport thread for instance isn't any longer in American Affairs (I only found it through a search)....So did everything make it safely over to the other side or has there been some shifting in the process, or maybe the transfer is still a work in progress :? :-)
I visited the Eupedia-- which I will get used to in time... It seems like mainly an organizational issue, but all the Americans are kind of burried somewhere in the middle of the forum...

Also may I make some suggestions to the list of choices of avatars in the Eupedia forum? Would you mind to put Asterix and Tin Tin characters in there?
That's actually a great idea. Thanks !
Btw, I don't know why you can't change your avatar. Did you pick one from the list or uploaded one ?
I wonder when can we post on the threads in the Europe forum section?
I tried to post just then but they was no "post reply" icon?:clueless:
Thank you. I shall be sheepishly cautious.
If that is true bossel san, than it is obvious that the free exchange of ideas from people with different perspectives is not the chief goal.
I think, the chief goal was to have that exchange in a somewhat amicable atmosphere. But, well,... no further comment...
I moved a few threads related to Japan to the All Things Japanese forum. I think that the thread you are referring to is still in the old American Affairs subforum which I haven't deleted yet, but is still searchable (though closed to posting).
I did so yesterday already. I also added other Franco-Belgian comics.
Suske en Wiske? JEROMEKE???
Ah well, it's a relatively minor niggle I have.
I preferred things the way they were before the split, but it's not really all that inconvenient for me to just go through one extra 'layer' so to speak, to get to the general discussions. It's not worth my while bothering about. :relief:
Absolutely, they are two wholly distinct forums which now just happen to have the same member database. Think of knowing everyone as a ready made advantage, more than what you're going to find almost anywhere else on the net, then everyone set their bookmarks and log into separately for their completely distinct set of interests, moderation preferences, chat buddies or whatever. No need to go from one to get out the other side or think of them as necessarily linked anymore in any way.
IMPORTANT NOTICE :
Now that Eupedia has its own separate forum, I have deleted all the threads and posts in the Europe Forum on JREF (including Linguistics and Religion & Philosophy). Therefore, all users who had ever posted in these subforums will see their post count and reputation points diminished. (Don't worry, it isn't lost, all has been kept on the Eupedia Forum).

good news~
new server?how long will it last? watch it ~

Thanks Maciamo for doing it so quick, I visited the forum late last night and I noticed you have a different avatar from here, I tried to give myself a different avatar too but it didn't work. I wonder why?
Also may I make some suggestions to the list of choices of avatars in the Eupedia forum? Would you mind to put Asterix and Tin Tin characters in there?
I told Thomas about this, but he probably won't be able to look at it for a week.
OK...I'll check it all out, and will give it all my best wishes and efforts and love. I do hope for a fair and well balance, democratically-like run and operated forum there as well. I hope to give as postitive and active an input into as I can.
Thanks for all the hard work, and all, and keep it up !! MM

Thank you both, Maciamo and Thomas !!! :relief: :cheer::-)
I don't even mind the name never returning to Japanese Reference as long as the appropriate content is here to stay.:dance::sing:
That's actually a great idea. Thanks !
Btw, I don't know why you can't change your avatar. Did you pick one from the list or uploaded one ?
I tried to pick one of my own, but it said something like invalid, then when I returned to the forum I was still with the avatar I picked for the Japanese forum.
I think I can change my avatar in the Japan forum, but I want to have a different avatar in the Eupedia forum, like you, is that possible?
I tried posting on some threads in the general topics section, i now cannot because i am not a member of the europe forum, when will i be able to post on it or will i have to sign up to another forum?
The other thing is, isn't it a bit pointless banning certain members on here when they can interact with this forum none the less in the general topics section?
I told Thomas about this, but he probably won't be able to look at it for a week.
Thanks for your assistance, I can wait. So when would you put up Asterix and Tin Tin characters in the EU Avatar list?
But the moderation team is a bit different on the two forums, and I found that he did not deserve being banned more than a few other members who argued with him (and which I won't name  ).
I guess with a ban he must have finally realized he didn't own this site and hadn't written the rules for everyone else to interpret....:-)
SVF's tone, manner and style were clearly not compatible with a friendlier, laid back place like this -- I don't know anyone who will seriously defend those. Whether you argued with him or happened to agree with any of this positions or not.
