Living life as a Feather:: its not that my tattoos or piercings are gang related. i mean come on; have you seen me? it hurt really bad though :/ much more than i thought it would. http://featherlea.livejournal.comHOME | i'm thinking of having my tongue pierced but it's the pain i'm not too sure about
got both a tattoo is a lot more pain than tongue piercing
I've done both and the tattoo definitely hurts more.
Got the tattoo, no problems. Keep that needle away from my toungue though, there is no way I am going to do that to myself, ULCH!
i have both and they're just 2 different sort of pains. on one side you have the instant sharp feeling of something going through your tongue, then it's hot and feels swollen for a couple of days ( have lots of ice i swear it helps!!) one the other side you have some sort of persistent scratching on your skin for an hour or two but then it's almost done.. might feel a little hot at the end of tattooing because he might go over parts he already inked to be sure they're covered, but then, apart from a little itchy feeling when it's healing its not painful!!!
your move chief ! good luck !
depends what you're pain threshold is like. im great at having tattoos but cant do piercings, it feels more painful to me. wheras tattoos are slightly less painful but for a longer time.
i'd be more worried about the bit after you've had it done, swollen tongue and soup for a week!
no, although people do say tht, tongue piercing is 2 sharp pains, piercing the hole insertig the bar, where as tattoos r constant nipping for a long space of time
giv me the 2 sharp pains any day!! Health and Fitness Sitemap - Page 18:: IS it Ok to use Eye Scrub more than once a day? Is penis size inherited? Does your tongue hurt? It's because a tattoo only hits the nerves on the skin while a piercing goes THROUGH the nerves of the tongue (which also has more nerves than the skin).
Tattoos cause superficial damages on the nerves which heals quickly while the piercings take time to heal leaving an "open" nerve. So any substance touching the open nerve will cause pain until it heals.
Ouch. ^_^
althought you here loads of horror storys about how discusting it is how many things can go wrong and so on, it really is the least painful and easiest piercing ive had, its a sharp pain of about a second and then nothing, go for it, you'll wonder what you were worried about when its all over!

YES. you're putting a needle through a muscle... not just on the surface like with a tattoo. not to mention when you're tired of the piercing it won't heal, so you'll always have a hole in your tongue. Not if the Tattoo is on you're undercarriage!
The difference is that a tongue peircing will hurt more AFTER it is in, but a tattoo only hurts for the time that it is being done for.
I don't agree with your first answer, I got my tongue pierced 5-6 years ago an let me tell you.... the initial piercing wasn't that painful because they use a liquid substance that numbs your tongue. BUT when it wears off it hurts like hell, They use a large bar at first witch you must leave in for a week or two to allow for any swelling, So talking and eating is a real pain but i guess no pain no gain.....
I hope that answers tour question.
Go on get it done...No Pain No Gain!
Good Luck!
the tongue is over pretty quickly... whereas a tat takes a little while... so it's continuous... Hi,i`ve had both done, tattoos is easy and totally bearable compared to having your tongue pierced. The worst part of a tongue piercing is the 2 weeks after. The pain you go through while having the piercing is nothing compared to the pain your have none stop for the 2 weeks.Personally,i think its really not worth it.60% of people can`t handle the pain, swelling and dribbling and end up taking the stud out.If you think having a tattoo hurts, then your not going to be able to handle it.Tattoos are nothing!!!!!! Good luck.
Having the actual piercing done is not painfull at all, it is a strange sensation though. The week afterwards is painful though to be honest. It is difficult to eat at first, and also your tongue hurts when you first start to talk again. It will all be worth it in the end though if it is something you really want to do. Good luck! x
I've had both. Not all tattoos hurt. It all depends on where you get them. Getting your tongue pierced doesn't hurt initially. It is the healing process that sucks. Use ice/popcicles and ibuprofen to keep down the swelling and it's not that bad. And eat carefully! Cracking a tooth on the barbell I'm sure is no fun either.
I've had both and although my tongue didn't hurt at the time i was in agony after if i could of taken it out the next day i would of i wouldn't advise any one to get their tongue done.
I had my tounge peirced six years ago and i dont think it was that painfull, its the week after that counts,if you gargle regularly with antiseptic mouthwash it should be just fine, keep it clean and eat plain food for awhile and leave gum alone for a bit.Otherwise do what makes you happy
no
I would opt for the tattoo if i were you, what if the piercing went bad on your tongue, have a good serious think first and do you really need either?
no way does getting your tongue pierced hurt. i have mine done and the swelling was what hurt and it was just an ache not really even a pain... go for it. you will be surprised just how painless it really is.
don't know but it makes you sound stupid (like you've got something in your mouth) go for the tats
Ive never had either but, i know theres more nerve endings in your tongue than on your arm for example, so i would have thought so, yes
Do you have a tattoo/tattoos already? Honestly you'll be fine, but I hear ya big time.
When I got my tongue pierced I already had 3 tattoos, but for some reason I was still super nervous. I'm not a big piercing person, and my tongue stud is my only non-ear piercing still. I've had it for like 8 years now, and I've thought about taking it out cuz "I'm too old" but I hardly notice it anymore, it's kinda like a part of me. Plus new people I meet don't notice it, sometimes for a really long time. So that is kinda neat, like my own little secret that is right out in the open.
