hi

i got a problem with 2 updaters for games.

the first is carom3d (www.carom3d.com) ... it starts the updater but nothing happens ... when i look inside the firewall is see localhost:loopback ...

same with the cnc renegade updater :(

loopback is allowed

and i allowed bot appz the connection

btw im german ... so is there an german board too ?
cuz i cant explain problems in english :(

hope you can help me ... cuz i like this game allot ... and to play online i need to update it ... but i cant :(

i dont think its the loop back ...

as i sayed b4 ... mozilla works fine ... and it needs the loopback also ...

maybe someone can download carom3d ... its a small game ... just as a test ...
if no one can solve this problem i go back to the old version ... and then i wont pay for the new one ... cuz its way to complicated ... users need simple software ... i dont want to search the whole day to fix the problem :eek:

Still, did you make a loopback inbound allow rule for the programs you mentioned in your posts(under Options Applications, highlight the app, edit, modify, new)? I am not talking about a system rule...

using mozilla ... guess what ... IT DOESNT WORK :(

so now i cant download the patch and i cant liveupdate it :(

this suxx ... with the version i got b4 it worked perfect ... agnitum was so gr8 ... but now this ... isnt there a way to dissable the loopback (or what ever) inside the agnitum outpost firewall ?

nonono ... i dont think op is crap ... i just dont like the op 2.5 version ...
i downgraded to a earlyer version now and it works fine ...

i know how to config op ... just could not figure out that loopback stuff ... what ever the version i got now is as save as 2.5 i guess ... i use it since month and didnt have any problems ;)

so dont missunderstand me ... AGNITUM OUTPOST FIREWALL IS 1 OF THE BEST ... if not, it is the best ;)

the point with 2.5 is ... that its not intuitively ... i dont want to search the web ... i dont want to read many faq's in english (whats not my language) ... i dont want to browse different forums ... for me (and many others) software have to be easy.

and the version i got now is good ... i know how to make rules .. and stuff ... so im fine now ... and hope 4 a better version of the gr8 firewall ... what i may purchase if i like it

Please have a look at Outpost 2.5 - what to expect (www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11836). You may need to add a rule to your apps as per section What's new under item 6.
Let us know if you need more help....

i tryed to use flashfxp to download this patch ... it wont work ...

i did allow flashfxp everything ... like i did with mozilla and the updater ... but it is always timed out ... WHY ... every traffic is allowed ...

even the ****** blaster worm did go through the wall :S
so whats the matter ?

i guess i go back to the preview version ... the latest version is more complicated ... users like easy software ;)

yes more pls ... im to stupid to understand this now ... my english isnt that good ... and atm i got toothache ... what makes it harder to concentrate :(

as far as i know i got such a rule ... its a global rule and it was enabled by deafault ... but im not sure if i do understand right

btw mozilla works fine ... what needs loopback also ... so im not sure if it is just the loopback ... but i know for sure that carom works fine if i shut down the agnitum firewall ... so it is a problem with the firewall

I use ws-ftp, and this ftp prog requires its own allow inbound localhost rule, the same rule as per my attachment, and it was not there from the beginning. The renegade download seems to work just fine with my firefox.
Again I am sorry we do not seem to be on the same wave length. Es tut mir Leid...

Forgot to ask about your (I assume global) loopback rule: why is 192.168.0.* listed together with 127.0.0.0 ?

I am sorry you feel OP is 'crap', I do not. I am just an ordinary user...and it did take me some time to configure it. 1 was very helpful. Have you looked at it?
For a loopback/localhost description, check wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Localhost).
Someone else, more kowledgeable than me, will hopefully look at this thread and perhaps be of more/better assistance. You may want to post some more details about your system, such as Win XP, win 98 etc...

its 127.0.0.* by default .. and after a while i added 192.168.0.* as a try cuz thats my lan ip.

and i dont understand this whole loopback stuff ...

i switch back now ... and hope for the next version ... agnitum was the best fw i ever had ... but 2.5 is (sorry) crap
