I am a registered user of Outpost Pro 2.5. I bought a family license from this Australia site http://www.antivirus.com.au/outpost/home/home.htm so that my wife can use Outpost Pro on her wireless laptop also.
I currently have version 369/369, and notice that version 370 has been available since 7 November. Unfortunately - and as is usual for practically all websites - the Australian one is vague as to which version is currently downloadable from it. I can download the 7MB .exe, but even then I won't know if I've wasted my time until after I've run it, and possibly even only ***after*** I've installed it. The support for the Australian website is insufficient - an email for sales only, and an STD phone number for business hours only. I have an STD bar at work, and am not at home during business hours.
I have some problems with version 369 (*), and would love to download version 370. I would appreciate the Australian website having the latest version; surely a month later it should have the latest version. I'm pretty sure if I download the latest 370 from the Agnitum international website, it won't work with my family license.
Is there any way Agnitum could ensure that all international resellers have the latest version available for download, and prominently display the version number and date of the current download? Alternatively, that licenses purchased overseas from local resellers will work with the international version? Thank you. View Questions in Computers > Wireless and Mobile:: 1 comment. (*) I use the Rules Wizard when I've installed software, and then once everything's settled down, turn the policy to Block Most. But every now and then, usually with Outlook XP and IE, without warning they're silently bocked. Turn on the Rules Wizard, and then the popups ask which rules to use. But the combo box with the presets JUSt DISPLAYS "Other", nothing else, so have to allow everything for the program. I can then later go to the application in Outpost, find it in the Trusted Applications, and change the rule. Usually then I can find more presets in the combo box, but usually still not all there should be (for example, the NewsReader is missing). And later, the problem comes back... I'm pretty sure if I download the latest 370 from the Agnitum international website, it won't work with my family license.Agnitum did standardise licence keys with version 2.1 so your current key should work with any Outpost download. However if you received a "short" licence key (the normal one has 5 lines with 35 characters each) then your copy of Outpost will have a new key stored in the Windows Registry which should be used instead. If you are familiar with RegEdit then you can check this (it should be held in HKLMSOFTWAREAgnitumOutpost FirewallKey), take a copy and use it for any future downloads. Your reseller may be reluctant to offer support for versions they have not made available for download, but it does not sound from your post as if you would be missing out on much.(*) I use the Rules Wizard when I've installed software, and then once everything's settled down, turn the policy to Block Most. It should only be an issue if the application itself stops working, but the default rulesets in Outpost should allow normal application functions.
I also bought via the Australian website and also have a Family licence. I have downloaded from Agnitum direct and the licence worked OK for me. Hope that helps
When I registered, I received a short license key, and later a 5-line license key. Perhaps I used the short key with those updates downloaded from the main Agnitum site.
I will download the very latest from the main Agnitum webite, then use the 5-line key. It may not actually solve the minor problem with the preset rules combo box sometimes being practically empty, but I'd like to have the latest version...

The safest course of action is to try blocking the traffic - if the application then fails, check this forum for details of a ruleset. If a forum search turns up nothing, then either create a thread in the Rules forum or check Google for details of what traffic the program needs to be able to send.
