ebook publishing: Question 1 of 2

I have two related questions. This is Question 1. I am readying a book for self-publication. Initially, I was going to go down the hard copy route (with which I am familiar) but I've now decided to launch it as an ebook, to test the water. I have previously published an ebook with great success. However, this was a 'Guru Guide' to certain aspects of mobile phones, so it had everything going for it as an ebook. This new book will be supported by a website that will provide a MASS of related content. I plan to give away Chapter 1; the rest of the book will carry a price tag and will then be available by downlowad. I visualise two formats: 1: PDF - with a view to reaching out through Amazon, etc. (if they'll have me) and to Mac users. 2: Some other using a PC-based generator. I have 2 Questions: 1: What page format to use (A4 or A5 or ?), and why? 2: What ebook generator to use, and why?
