I am looking for information which could lead me to obtain a copy of a
specific television show -- possibly the producer or production
company or some entity which would keep a copy on file.
My memory on the program is foggy, so any of the following bits of
information could be incorrect, but cumulatively they should lead
someone to the right program.
Aired around ten years ago (?) and titled "The Gift" (??). Show
blended "The Candid Camera" with good Samaratin-ism. Situations were
staged where normal people were asked to perform kind deeds. Person
who performed them was then surprised by host, who gives them "the
gift" -- a clear suitcase full of money (10,000?). I remember an
episode where a man was asked to guide an elderly or blind person
across the street, and he ended up helping the person for a most of
the day! Show could have been a pilot only which never took off,
because I never saw more than one episode. I believe it aired on
network television on a weekend afternoon (?).
For a lesser amount ($15), if someone knows just the program title,
when it aired and with which network, that would get me going on my
own research. Cheers TV Show:: The Cheers TV show was a 30 minute comedy series on NBC about a bar with a appeared in the only triple episode of the series called "Strange Bedfellows"? .. Hello.
The show was "The Grant."
It was a special that aired in August 1996. It was on the ABC network
and the host was athlete Bo Jackson.
An August 15, 1996 article in the Hastings Tribune newspaper describes
the show that you saw:
"Would you help a stranger in need?"

The web page of Producer/Director Steve Gerbson identifies the show as
an ABC special hosted by Bo Jackson.

The market the show aired in was Denver, Colorado. And I'm inclined
to believe it was on network television, either ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX or
UPN, although the last two were only in their nascient form, if they
existed at all. Could have been a syndicated show on Denver's Channel
2, now UPN.
on a side note, I developed a reality show called "Good Samaritan"
which sold to Buena Vista TV three years ago and was produced as "The
Grant" for ABC as a special. Lots floating around in that genre.

It is unlikely that it was a program distributed over a national
broadcast network if it was an entertainment program on a weekend
afternoon. Except for live sports, the ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox networks
rarely use that time period for their national programming. It could
have a cable network program or a "syndicated" program carried by a
broadcast station in your local market. Under the circumstances, it
would be helpful for researchers to know what television market you
reside in and what cable networks you were most like to have been
watching at the time.
