In this tutorial we are going to smoothen the surface of the skin and add a glow effect to the image.
Smoothening the skin:
Open the photograph of anyone whose skin is slightly rough.
Select the brush tool and hit ‘Q’ to turn on masking.
Brush all over the face except the eye, eyebrows and lips.
Hit ‘Q’ again, now the area except the face is selected, hit Ctrl+I to select the face.
Now go to Filter> Cool Photoshop Tips:: Read Photoshop Tutorial: Apply Eye Make-up Filed under: Photo Retouching. Removing the background of an image using channels http://www.coolphotoshoptips.com/HOME | Blur and click on Gaussian Blur, set the radius to 1.0 and click OK.
Now you can observe the rough surface of the skin is smoothened.

Adding a glow effect:
Open the photograph.
Unlock the layer and duplicate the layer.
Place the duplicated layer under the original layer.
Apply Guassian Blur to the duplicated layer setting the radius to 4.0.
Set the opacity of the original layer to 60%.
Now you can observe some glow effect on the photograph.
