I use XP, Outpost 2.5.370.4626 (370), filtnt.sys version 2.5.370.
Outpost has recently produced a dialog with the following details everytime I try to collect e-mail using outlook.
Hidden process requests network access (not responding)
McAfee ViruScan E-mail Scan Module
Process c:Program FilesMcafee.comvsomcvsescn.exe
Launched by c:Program filesmcafee.comvsomcvsshld.exe
This dialog freezes and has to be terminated, which also crashes Outpost.
I use McAfee VirusScan 9.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
I meant neither one of those things. What I suggested is to either turn off the McAfee ViruScan E-mail Scan Module or set the Hidden Process setting to Allow.
Thanks for the reply. The rule for this is set to allow at present and is as follows:
Where the protocol is TCP
and the direction is outbound
and the remote host is ....
and the remote port is pop3
allowit

I would suggest you turn off email virus scanning. It's not needed and often interferes with other processes. You are still protected because the AV program will catch any virus signature before it runs.
If you don't want to do that then you can change the Hidden Process process setting to Allow. This is located in the Applications tab of Options.
Got it. Works well now. Thanks
