Birthday party- Kid allergic to pets?

Birthday party- Kid allergic to pets?

My daughter really wants to have her birthday party at home this year but I know one of the classmates she's inviting is allergic to animals. We have a dog and 2 cats.

I'm not familiar with pet allergies, so I'm hoping someone here can help.

If I take the animals to my dads for the day and clean the house good before they come over, will that be sufficient? Or should I just talk to my daughter and plan to do the party elsewhere?

She'll be disappointed if we can't do it here, but I'm willing to make her deal with the disappointment if having the party here is going to hurt her friend. It's a lesson worth learning, if it has to be done. ask the child's parent about their allergies.

they may have a medication for it or see if they have some kind of hepafilter after you clean thoroughly.

Also concentrate on cleaning very well where the party will take place
to help have a more allergy free place- if her friends mom is nice she might even help you.
  • pet dander is really hard to get rid of, its everywhere... even in the pad underneath the carpet. i guess it just depends on HOW allergic the kid is. My Best friend is allergic and she has 2 dogs and 2 cats, she just takes allergy medication and is fine!

  • I would clean very well, and also try to get an air filterer for your house. Try to take the pets to your dad's house a few days before so that you know that there won't be any risks.

Also, yes, speak with the child's mother about it (:

Be glad that she wants to do it at home; hosting it somewhere else is a lot more expensive!
  • You might be best talking to the kids parents. Some allergies are worse than others. I am allergic to cats and i know that when i visit my friend i can start sneezing and weezing from about two mins after i arrive some days and other days i am not so bad, so it could be that she has cleaned the house really well on certain days, i am not really sure as i have never really asked. The cat is never there in the room so i can obviously still have the effect without the cat in the room. Maybe a good hoover will be enough. Sorry not much help but i am sure the kids parents will know.
