I let my dog run around and be a dog, but I see so many small dogs never walk on the ground. Why? They aren't meant to be there like that tortured to never walk on the ground.
That is one reason so many small dogs have behavioral problems. They are frequently in their owners' "space" -- in their arms, all over them on the furniture, etc. -- contributing to leadership issues. Carrying a dog to go out to potty also teaches a dog to wait around to be picked up -- one reason toy breeds are often difficult to housetrain. because its hip
because people are ignorant. they think its cute to carry a small dog and never realize that a dog needs to exercise and would rather walk on the ground smelling things and peeing on trees than be held above it all. Because some people view their dogs as just an accessory :( They are always the first to whine about their dog's behavioral issues which stem from a result of a dog not being treated like a dog.
Only ignorant small-dog owners treat their dogs like that. (The Paris Hilton wannabes.)
My toy-breed dog walks on the ground. She goes to agility class. She plays with other dogs. She gets to be a dog! :)
.
Its not torture........those dogs are just spoiled......and good for you!!!!!
Why do you keep asking questions about small dogs?? Not every small dog owner out there carries their dog in their arms. I own small dogs and they are well taken care of like a dog should be. Again, your being so judgemental of people and stereotyping them!
I couldn't agree with you more!!! And since when did it become socially acceptable for people to either carry dogs in their arms or in a carrier in stores! I was in the veggie section of the grocery store the other day and saw a woman grabbing stuff with one hand with a dog in the other!...Seemed kinda gross to me. Do you think this store would let me walk around holding onto my 90 pound lab?? Or maybe if I put my big baby in a purse they'd let me??
