Developed specifically for pupils aged 14 to 16 years,
the new site addresses a wide range of health topics, including
drugs, alcohol and mental health. It carries details
about medical conditions that may be particularly
troubling to adolescents, including acne, diabetes,
asthma and anaphylaxis.

"Young people need easily accessible, up-to-date and accurate health
information to help both with school work and to increase their
knowledge of health issues," said Public Health Minister Yvette Cooper,
speaking at Wednesday's site launch at the Schools Resources Exhibition,
in London.

"Mind, Body & Soul is a major part of the Government's drive to make
all schools a healthy school. A healthy school not only improves the
health of its pupils, and the community, but it can also ensure that
young people learn about the key factors which affect their own
health."

As part of the launch, the site is running a competition
inviting pupils 14-16 to send in their own ideas about
healthy schools activities. Selected entries will be posted on
the site.
In March this year, the Government launched the
Wired for Health
web site which gives up to date health information and full
details of the Healthy Schools Programme.
