I am 17 years old and in full time education. I get paid weekly and my wages differ from anything from 5 hours to 35 hours (at min wage). I know that you pay NI tax if you earn over £105 but how much? and do you get taxed on the whole amount or just the amount that is over £105 - eg. i earn £110 do i get taxed on the whole £110 or just the £5 over? NI is usually paid at 7% of your annual salary. HMRC website has some really good information on it!!
Some terrible answers here!
Just the £5 over. And the marginal NI rate will be (probably) 12.8%. So something like 60p on £110 wages. If it's much above £1 per week or say a fiver a month then have a word with your boss or local tax authority
Try the "listentotaxman" website.
the amount shold say on pay slip. it depends on your circumstances, at school or not etc. you get taxed for the whole 110. but if your ever made redundant by a bankrupt company you will recieve a payment from this
No One has go this correct as yet so here goes.
You pay national Insurance at the rate of 11%. you Only pay this on your earnings above £105 per week and up to £770 per week. If your average wage is £110 per week you will only pay NI. On the £5. So this would work out to be 55p.
Just the amount that is over your limit
