Hi i was downloading and installing microsoft Visual C# 2008 and then my pc restarted, after restart i logged back in, afterwhich it began finalizing the install when my taskbar disapared and desktop icons. i restarted and signed back in then this RUN DLL error occured and the taskbar along w/ icons dissapared again. so i ctrl alt delete and log on to my guest account, which is what im using right now. Nothing wrong with guest just my admin acount. BTW: i am using Vista Home Premium. What do i do? all help verry much apreciated.

You have 3 options:

1.- Try the Explorer.exe as described above (but you would have to do that every time your computer starts)

2.- You can start your PC in Safe mode and do a system restore to the day before you installed Visual C

On that page, scroll down to line 195 and in the right-hand column, click on "Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar" to download a small .vbs file.

Once you have it saved to the hard drive, run it according to the instructions at the top of the Kelly's Korner page.

i need more details on your RUN DLL error message..

well try to create a new admin account and delete the affected admin account.. maybe you can give a try...

IN YOUR AFFECTED ADMIN ACCOUNT

if your desktop icon and taskbar goes missing, you may try to wake them up by

press ctrl alt del
windows task manager pop up
click file
click new task run
type explorer.exe
hit enter.

i hope all the desktop wakes up ...
