Although the horizon for overseas property has broadened dramatically Spain still tops the foreign property market which it has done for sometime, even with markets such as Bulgaria and Turkey which have seen huge rises in property purchases from non-national persons. Firstly, Spain has been used to the huge influx of Brits for a number of years, the services available to the British is first class – which you will not find in any only country in Europe. The health services in Spain are second to none which is a huge pull for those which health problems and/or disability needs, Spain is also one of the healthiest countries to live in the world and offers a healthy lifestyle (if you intent to live it!).

The costas of Spain have relied on the tourism trade that the Brits have flooded for many years, now English is more or less the second language of Spain, without English many are not useful for employment and financially without English speaking employees companies will suffer to their competitors. Flights to Spain are more accessible than any other European country from the UK, most often than not one or two return flights per day from major airports in the UK, along with the low cost airlines that are on offer. Many of the new developments in the eastern block of Europe can not offer this service so travel to your new property overseas may not be as easy to get to and financially too expensive to do each year. Many flights to Spain can be found cheaper than a coach from London to Manchester, and it takes less time!
Living is cheap, for those of you that smoke, like a social drink with your friends and family, enjoy high quality foods and general pampering – Spain has it all on offer and all in line with salaries enabling everyone relaxation without the worries of your finances which you simply can’t do in the UK.
Spanish property prices have seemed to even out, they are still massively cheaper than the UK, maybe not in the EU but within easy range of purchasing. Mortgages are easy to gain, as long as you have the right documentation with 30 year mortgages open for persons looking to enjoy their life instead of being nailed down by the bank!
And even though the boom may have finished there are plenty of property bargains for sale throughout mainland Spain to be found, also there are dozens of new up and coming villages, towns and regions with the opportunity to invest your money as prices will rise along with the growth of these areas.
I don’t need to persuade you that Spain is still the number property destination for us Brits, come and see yourself – you can even watch BBC1 and ITV so you won’t miss Eastenders or Corrie!
