when you select a single picture it displays for the timeout period then display the next picture in the folder .
from the on it will continuously redisplay the second picture.
correct behaviour is single picture should be displayed
i'm going to add some more debug stuff as i haven't been able to reproduce as yet - i suspect it only effects the higher resolutions.
as for the date/time update stuff - perhaps the "date is wrong, rescuing" code that auto-sets to 2004 is interferring with the update code perhaps. does it update the date/time if the date is off by just a couple of days?

amended report to include latest findings

it could be due to resources, though if it's a jpeg image then i doubt it as it's scaled down as it's loaded. if it's not a jpeg, then yes, that could be the problem - try doing it while music is playing to help reproduce it if it's memory related.
i don't run in 720p (nor do i have the ability to do so in the short-term), but if you can log it i can probably track it down.

ahh not so easy to check the ntp update
i boot clock not updated go into settings switch to manual and set the time a couple of days out.
switch back to ntp and of cause bam time and date corrected.
any ideas how to fault find as only get one shot per 24 hours.
how about switch to manual set date back 2 days unplug network reset to ntp switch off attach cable reboot.debug mode.. think that'd do it????.

thats all the log entries you get about time but once booted the time is correct so it looks like your right johnathon the invalid date fix code breaks ntp update during boot.
this is crazy.....
i just tried it tonight and i can't get it to happen was just about to plead insanity when it happend but now i cant repeat.
this morning it appeared pretty constant...but due to its vagueness i dont think i'll be able to capture it in a debug log.
i do run a 720p hdtv display so memmory is tight also the picure i selected when it happend was a 9 mega pixel image so may be related to resources what do you think.
settings
show each image 9 secs
transition time 2500ms
use pan and zoom set
of note i use slide show screen saver timeout 3minutes
given the radomness of this i think maybe this bug should be closed and i'll see if i can get to the bottom of it.
just hammered the living daylights out the box in dubug mode.
loading the image from boot still leaves 39meg free
i then played mp3 and video then into mythtv and back out again.
loaded image 24 megs free still not a sign of a glitch.
the lowest i hot was 15meg free (all credit to you guys)
so i can't think where to go you can't reproduce it and it's looking like neither can i !!!

think you better close the bug and i'll raise a new one if i ever get a debug of it happening (don't hold your breath)
reported a bug some time ago that the timeserver thread did not update ntp time during boot , it looks to me that this debug also confirms that bug????
as i use mythtv from xbmc and have the xbox powered off by my amp this ones a real pain .... ever tried to get tv schedules from 2004
on the previous do you want me to open a new bug or is this going to be a jmarshall quickie i.e fixed faster than i can type.????
dificult to say as if i reboot it fixes
if i wait after 5-10 minutes it fixes
if i power off on it fixes
to repeat test need to wait 24 hours for the capacitor to discharge
i'll run tests tommorow after its been off ..

thanks for looking at the photo stuff it appears to work more often than fails but is quite supprising when it first happens
pay dirt tried morning then this evening it did it and in debug.
clean boot straight into pricture selected one picture and after approx 9 sec pic2 displayed and then ket redisplaying after every 9 ish secs.
there are approx 27 images in this share point..
the debug logs short as i got it straight away so post it here in it entirety.

looks ok to me confirms my symptoms looks like slide show starts!!!
i'm not going mad wooo hooo
and i've replied. it's not reproducible with cvs.
please post a further comment to the bug report with the information i outlined.
