as recording? Is it really so hard to stay on the charts these days with the 1000's of FLY BY NIGHT artist out here today? to me all three of these artist have the TRADITIONAL country sound and or roots and were doing pretty good at one time or another. do you think real soon some one's gonna be asking this same question bout..JOE DEE MASSINA(?) OR TAYLOR SWIFT AND THE REST OF THE "HERE TODAYS, GONE TOMORROWS"?I remember a group who sang "POOR ME" they road in on a fast train and then.....where are they now? Is this just the way it is in the" NEW COUNTRY" WORLD now ,just an assembly line?
i'm sure those three are somewhere doing well for them selves....singers w/ that kind of voice dont just go up in a puff of smoke.yesterday i heard pam Tillis on WSM radio.she was @ the country music festival in Nashville. dont i wish i could be there to hear all those great ppl sing! i think i heard something about Lorrie Morgan too....isnt she a wonder?
I saw Patty Loveless on CMT's Top 100 Country Duets, she did a duet with Joe Nichols, I think it's was a George and Tammy song, I can't remember which one.
It's kinda sad because country has gotten so bubble gum, it's like whoever has the most blonde hair and tightest abs wins. I lot of people showing up to see Taylor Swift (who really stinks) who probably never heard Mama Tried or any good country music, only this kool-aid stuff. There are some good vocalists coming out, but their success is based on marketability, not talent, which some of them greatly lack.
As far as I know, Pam and Patty are still recording. I do hear every once in awhile that Lorrie Morgan still tours. As for that band that had "Pour Me", Trick Pony..... They broke up during the last part of last year.
BTW. What you said about the "Assembly Line of Country artists" Look up this song sometime called "Cowboy Hats" by Canadian singer, Chris Cummings. He sings all about that and it's quite funny too.
Take Care,
Cindy

I agree with Wander...Wonder. It seems that everything changes as the new generations evolve, however....when they look back into their memories a few years down the road, they will be blank. Unfortunately for them they're not gonna hear anything in today's Country that they will retain 30 years from now.
dunno bout lorrie morgan but i think patty loveless does more bluegrass?? i think. Pam Tillis as been in branson with her dad and his theather and she is coming out with a new cd i believe and her latest single is "man in the window" spirit inside pages 2004 summer.qxd:: File Format: PDF/Adobe Acrobat - View as HTMLI just laid there wondering how. much extra time this would buy me.” Looking to the future of personal property, collections, real estate, as well http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/aboutus/philanthropy/programs/1program/spirit/2006spirit-magazine.pdfHOME | !!UNK !COLON !COMMA !DASH !DOUBLE-QUOTE !ELLIPSIS !EXCLAMATION :: LORIMAR'S LORIN LORING LORNA LORNE LORRAINE LORRIE LORTON LOS LOSE LOSEC TILLAGE TILLER TILLEY TILLING TILLINGHAST TILLIS TILLMAN TILLOTSON TILLY http://alper.nl/studie/in4012/samples/LMTutorial/extras/60k.wlistHOME |
your right artist with that more traditional sound don't get played on radio often. Unless its by request or you are lucky enought that your local country station set a few hours aside for a classics show. Like one in my area dose every sunday for about 4 hours. There real fans will keep on buying their new albums even if they don't get played on the radio.
I guess one day the same can/ will be said about some of todays more popular groups and artists. Espically if they only have a few big songs and dissapear. I can think of a few like that already and this is since only the year 2000 or so.
Like everything else there are trends in music, and maybe one day the tradtional sound will be back in. I think Brad Paslely, in some songs, has that sound.
It surely seems to especially those who think they sing real country music but it's basically a pop combination. Travis Tritt is absolutely wonderful but I cant recall the last time he won a CMA. Where is Mark Chesnutt ? Vince Gill is a powerful country singer but gets left in the dust/jumped over by the new singers ?? I dont know the answer.
When you have artists like Sugarland, and Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Leann Rimes and Carrie Underwood running the charts, it's hard for the others to compete...so they get classified as 'a top artist in their time', get a few one hit wonder labels attached to their songs, and life goes on...
Its unfortunate, but that's how the record industry, heck all industry works. Whomever sells the most sticks around.
I love them ladies...but that being said i love today's music too.....pam is one of my faves.....i love her music she has a wonderful voice...
