In response to previous answers, some sauropod dinosaurs were bigger than elephants (with a fair few baleen whales being bigger than elephants too), megalodon would probably be the largest shark (rivalling the whale shark).
As a side note, biggest organism = a fungi in yellowstone national park (size) and giant sequoia redwoods (mass)
