Back in the Dot Com heyday, there seemed to be companies that would
pay you to post THEIR advertising on YOUR car. I heard this called
"car skins": They were vinyl overlays that would stick to your car,
advertising the company or its products.
There seemed to be both brokers that handled many companies, and
individual companies that would contract with you directly.
I'm looking for the top 10 (if there are that many) brokers and/or
companies that provide this service, preferably for people and cars
residing in the SF Bay Area. (A broker that only provides this
service in, say, Pennsylvania, doesn't do me much good.)
If there are companies that still do this, I believe I have a good
location and good vehicle for this purpose: I live in San Jose, CA.,
and drive a spotless 2003 Gold PT Cruiser Turbo.
Thanks,
J.
Thank you for the link to a similar question. While this is useful
background information, it isn't really specific enough to answer my
question. Also, the information in that answer is a little bit dated.
So I'm still interested in an answer to my original question.
Thanks,
J.
I raised the payment for the answer from $10 to $20 to encourage
someone to take a stab at answering my question.

Hello jh963-ga,
I can provide you with links to several websites that allow you to
sign up as a potential driver for this type of service and they match
you up with advertisers. I believe these are what you describe as
brokers.
So far I have found 6 of them and I think I can come up with more.
None of them are based in the Bay Area, but they claim to provide
service nationwide.
Would you be interested in this information?

Yes, that would be fine, providing that the links are for legitimate
brokers / companies, and not websites that 1) make their money by
making you pay to sign up, rather than by actually brokering
car-wraps, and 2) questionable websites that say they will give you a
free car, as long as it is wrapped with an advertisement. I have
already signed up with Autowraps.com. I also found one or two sites
that SAID they provided this service, but there was no way to sign up!
Thanks,
J.
Hello jh963-ga,
Although these sites appear legitimate, I have no way to confirm that
they are without signing up for all of them myself.
Since I don?t know of anyway to solve this, I?ll provide the list
here. If you are able to determine that they are legitimate, you can
post that information here and I will repost the information as the
official answer to the question so that I can receive my fee.

Hello J.,
Thank you for getting back to me. I?ll re-post the information here
to make the answer complete.
The websites listed below allow you to sign up as a potential driver
for the type of service commonly referred to as ?car wrap?
advertising. They enter your information into a database and attempt
to match you up with advertisers.
None of them are based in the Bay area, but they claim to provide
service nationwide.

This is one that was not in the original list.
They say that they are not currently signing up new drivers, but you
might want to check again later.
Good Luck!
