Bell Atlantic Wednesday unveiled Web@Once Self Serve, a new Web development tool designed to enable small businesses to easily and cost-effectively build Web sites.
The service, which includes Web hosting, is priced at $9.95 a month. No special software or programming knowledge is needed. Customers simply fill in blanks on each page to create a customized Web site by choosing from any one of 20 available styles.
The program also includes a library of graphics and users can also supply their own.
Joe Kellagher, director of Bell Atlantic's electronic commerce services, said the service is designed to bring new opportunities to small businesses.
"For many small businesses, off-the-shelf software can be complicated and require too much time and patience to use. And for businesses that are just getting started on the Web, hiring a Web design firm can be time consuming and costly. Web@Once Self-Serve solves these issues...," he said.
